Alice and the Pedophile

July 12, 2024August 12, 2024 / megdedwards / Leave a comment

When you find out what he did, you may wonder how I could have kept the worry beads. But I keep lots of things. I worried the beads for years. I still have a few, one placed in a homemade dream catcher that gives me no dreams.

Summer Sad

July 5, 2024July 12, 2024 / megdedwards / Leave a comment

It is often grey, overcast and cool yet muggy. The air is full of the blessed, biting bugs. Everything is damp.

For my Lost Friend

December 22, 2023March 19, 2024 / megdedwards / Leave a comment

Sometimes you lose a friend because you grow apart, and sometimes there is a misunderstanding or a great betrayal. But you can also just plain lose someone.

Imagine being a Writer

May 23, 2023January 15, 2024 / megdedwards

I had a wonderful job this spring. I reviewed three 'crime' novels that were very different in tone and style for Atlantic Books Today and it was an absolute pleasure to write. Having a deadline was refreshing and invigorating - it made me feel young again. COVID years dropped off my shoulders and it felt … Continue reading Imagine being a Writer

My Sad Couches

January 31, 2023December 18, 2024 / megdedwards / 2 Comments

I curse my couch. I curse all four of my couches. They say so much about me. Too much. And I am not pleased about what they say. Why can't I have really nice couch, in my lifetime? I am feeling that my deeply held desire for a comfortable good looking couch is heading into … Continue reading My Sad Couches

September 2, 2022January 30, 2024 / megdedwards / Leave a comment

MARCH 2022 This winter we lost our main income, and we were banned from society, our local café, the local cinema, the empty local library, the deserted and always quiet art gallery. My office, which is found two levels underground on the Mount Allison campus (and is so isolated I don’t like to send young … Continue reading Notes from March 2022

On Work and Workers

February 15, 2022July 12, 2022 / megdedwards / Leave a comment

February 2022 I am an excellent worker and a natural servant. And when I say ‘servant’ I mean I don’t mind being subservient. It does not break my spirit. I am comfortable taking orders and getting work done. I am able to work long hours. I never shirk, I never steal, I never lie. I … Continue reading On Work and Workers
